In Memory

Craig Bowthorpe

Craig (Shorty) Lin Bowthorpe passed away at his home on February 12, 2017 Due to a Heart Condition.
Shorty was born in Salt Lake City, Utah on March 30, 1953 to Peirce & Lugene Bowthorpe. Shorty was raised in Holladay along with his 5 younger siblings.

As a child, Shorty loved the outdoors, Fishing trips, Mini Bikes, Tote-Gotes, Bikes & Dirt Bikes. Photography was another love that Shorty had, he would spend hours in his Dark Room working on his photographs. In the summer for several years, Shorty had a job in the Kamas Valley on a Ranch hauling hay and helping wherever he was needed. When Shorty wasn't riding dirt bikes or hauling hay, he could be found playing his Drums.

Shorty Graduated from Olympus High School in 1971.

In 1978 Shorty Married Kathy Hasna and they started a family, becoming a Dad to Cyrus and Sharla.
Several years later Shorty moved to Northern California to start a new adventure in his life, he was quite the craftsman building custom cabinets and working heavy equipment. While in California he met Charlene Dinsdale as well as her two children Joe and Gina who he thought of as his own. Shorty and Charlene were together for over 20 years before moving back to Utah a few years ago.

As an adult, Shorty loved camping, fishing, four-wheeling, snowmobiling & hunting but his biggest passion was cooking on the BBQ or over the campfire. Aside from his passions with the outdoors, he really loved being with his grandkids and greatly enjoyed taking them on the four-wheelers and teaching them how to fish.

Shorty is survived by his son Cyrus (Sara) of Cle Elum, WA; Daughter Sharla of West Jordan Utah; Mother Lugene of Holladay Utah; Brothers Spence (Alyson) of Holladay Utah; Todd (Annette) of Oakley Utah; Brent (Sherri) of Cottonwood Heights Utah; Sister Mary Ellen of Holladay Utah. His 4 beautiful grandchildren; Keelie, Ian, Colton, Cheyenne and numerous nieces and nephews. Preceded in death by his father, Peirce; and his sister, LuAnn.

You left us too soon. We weren't done with our camping trips, and we need more dutch oven cooking lessons over the volcano. His love of his grandkids was endless, his jokes and sense of humor were completely inappropriate and yet completely amazing.

"Dad, Papa Shorty, We will miss you so much, Rest in Peace."
